[ Snacks - Koala's March (Lotte) ]

Hey guys,

It has been a long time since I posted something on my blog. I was just super busy with school, exams and family stuffsheeetsthings. I did miss blogging. Blogging is a way to keep my mind off of things. I find it super relaxing and fun! It's summmer vacation now, so I'll have more time to blog yeeeuh.

I went to Amsterdam a couple of days ago with a good friend of mine. It was really fun! He has never been to China town before, so I brought him there. And as you might have guessed: we bought a lot of snacks!

I'm going to review lots of awesome asian snacks for you guys. I think you might know some of the snacks, because they're very popular in Asia (Pocky, Pretz, Koala's March, Cup noodles etc).

Ya know, there is just something about Asian snacks that attracts me. I think I know what it is: THE PACKAGING. Sometimes I just buy snacks because I think the packaging is super cute lol. I don't have this with Dutch snacks. The packaging of asian snacks is cute, creative, colorful, playful, funny and it makes me hungry!!

Asian food commercials are an ultimate pleasure for eye! Dayum asians love their food lol.
It's funny to see how different cultures have different design/marketing/commercial styles (?). It's hard to explain it, but I'll write about this subject in another post!!

The first snack review is about "Koala's March".

Have you ever tasted these? No? Then you're missing out on something delicious!

Koala's March is a bite sized cookie with a sweet filling. The biscuit has the shape of a koala and is imprinted with different koala characters. It comes in different flavors like chocolate, strawberry and milk
I bought the chocolate flavor, because they didn't have the other flavors. Yeah, they only sell the chocolate flavor in my country... WHYYY?!! I haven't tried the milk flavor yet.. Wait for me, I will find youuu!

For now my favorite flavor is chocolate! The biscuit is light and crunchy. The chocolate filling was not too sweet and you can really taste the cocao. The combination of the light biscuit and the soft chocolate filling is a match made in food heaven! I paid 1,10 euros for these cookies!

Here is their website. AMG IT'S SO CUTE!

[ DIY - Notebook ]

Hi guys,

I've been really busy with school the past 2 months. And I'm happy to say that I just finished my bachelor thesis. I'M SO HAPPY~~ To celebrate this, I'm going to share a fun and easy DIY project with you guys!

Some history:
I have always loved drawing and handcrafting since I was a little girl. Sometimes I would be drawing and creating stuff all day long! And yes, I've made some awesome sheeets. Like 3D paper food lol.  It was my dream to go to an art school (qq asian parents). Just like cooking/food, crafting, DIY etc. is a big passion of mine. So, y'all can expect more awesomesauce DIY projects on my blog!

What's on today's menu? cute DIY notebook!

What you need:
* An ugly notebook
* Cute scrapbook paper
* Scissors
* Glue

Bought this note book at Action fo€ 0,99!

I used some vintage scrapbook paper. I really like the colors and patterns <3
You can use all kinds of paper (newpapers, scrapbook paper, wrapping paper etc..)

Step 1
Put some glue on the outside of the notebook and glue the scrapbook paper onto the notebook

Step 2
Trim off excess paper

Step 3
Be creative! I used different colors and patterns. You can also decorate your notebook with stickers, but I like it clean and simple!

Step 4
Eat some chicken nuggets!

I told you it's a super easy project! I think making a sandwich is harder than this project.
Have a nice day!

[ Fooodies: Restaurant Massada ]

AYE mates!

This is my first "restaurant review". It's not very different from my usual food review, but in my restaurant reviews I will also talk about the service, the interior etc.

OK let's start!
Massada is a steakhouse located in my hometown. The restaurant is in a prominent place! It's in the center of a mall, so it's hard to miss this building (unless you're walking with your eyes closed).
What I really like about this restaurant is its shape. Massada has a shape of a cylinder or a cookie box lol. The tables are placed in a 360 degrees circle and the restaurant kitchen is in the center of this circle. So it's like a CIRCLE-CEPTION.

The inside is decorated with beautiful wooden tables, chairs and benches. I don't know how to describe their style, but it reminds me of a 18th century ship. There's stained glass on the ceiling, old school yellow lamps and hanging sailor-sea-decorations.

So I went there with my boyfriend and friends a couple of days ago. The staff was really nice and the service was great! It was a bit busy that day, because of the nice weather. Nevertheless we were helped almost immediately. I just hate it when I have to wait 10 minutes to get a menu card or a drink... If it's like this I can better get it myself.

After we ordered our food they gave us something to snack on!

Yup, it's fresh bread! Damn I love dem bread! If I don't get bread when I go out for a dinner it feels like something is missing.

It's like an Ash without a Pikachu, a Plato without questions, Starbucks without its hipsters, fries without salt...
It's just wrong!

Am I the only one who thinks this like this?

I NEED MY BREAD. Here's a poll to see how you guys are thinking lol.

>>> BREAD POLL~ <<<

I ordered their famous spareribs - like always! The spareribs menu has a side salad and a portion of fries! Their spareribs are one of the best I've ever eaten. The meat is juicy, tender and it falls off the bones. The sauce is sticky, sweet and thick. It has a nice smokey flavor and the portions are BIG!

My friend ordered the mixed grill!
Mantik choose a 3-course meal with: onion soup, spareribs and a coffee coconut panacotta. Mantik really liked his onion soup. The soup was rich and flavorful and they placed a piece of toasted bread with melted cheese on the top!

The coffee coconut panacotta wasn't that great though. The panacotta itself was yummy. It was creamy, jiggly and it had a subtle sweet coconut flavor. The black coffee foam on top of the panacotta ruined the taste =(
We don't like the taste of black coffee!

In summary: the food was great! But what are the prices?
I only paid 14,50 for a spareribs menu. Mantik paid 22,50 for a 3-course menu?! Come on, 15  for a menu with loads of yummy meat, fries and a salad?! It's super cheap!

[ Recipe Book?! ]

Hey y'all!

How are you guys doing? I'm ok ok, busy with lots of stuff like school and my bachelor thesis.
Anyways.. I'm writing this post because I have some exciting news! Well, I think it's exciting. I'M EXCITED!

Like I said in another post [birth of fooodies], I tried to make a recipe book in 2008. I was in my cuteness-for-the-win-phase. So the layout of my recipe book was really colorful, cute and messy? haha

I have some printscreens for you guys

Ok as you can see, lots of hearts, cute images, different fonts, butterflies and stuff!
I'm very proud of my recipes, because I only used Microsoft word and PAINT to make these. And if you're familiar with word and paint you will know I spend hours and hours to create a page!

I've put so much effort in making those decorations on the side. Every little heart or paw you see there is a single image, so I've moved, rotated and resized all those images like a thousand times to get the right composition. LOL I can't believe I did that.

It took so much time to make a page, so I felt a bit discouraged. I lost my motivation to continue with my recipe book.

In 2009 I started taking an interest in photography and I figured nobody wants to buy/read a recipe book with a messy and cuteness-overload layout. Ok some people would, but most people do not and it's not professional! =p

So I created other recipe pages with Stock photos (?) which took less time to make.

It still had some cute elements, but it was more "mature looking" (I guess whaha).
After this my inspiration for my cooking book was GONE, PASSÉ, FUTSCH,WEG for a couple of years. It kinda bothered me, because I've always wanted to make a recipe book since I was little *cry me a river*.

Uhm.. How did we end up here? lol

Three days ago, I suddenly had a great idea for my recipe book! Since I'm active on Flickr again (I had a break from Jan 2010 - Feb 2014, personal reasons derp) I thought I should make a recipe book with "REAL" photos. Photos taken by me!

I love photography. I find it easier than Word/Paint and I've noticed that photography is a great source of inspiration for me. I JUST LOVE IT!
I'm not good at photoshop and graphic design stuff, but luckily Mantik is. He was very enthusiastic when I told him about my new plan. And he told me he would help me with the layout and design thingies and I'm going take the pictures and write the recipes.

So these are my plans. What do you guys think? Do you want to see some sneek peeks? No? I don't care. HEREYOUGOOOO!

I'm so happy and excited~

Have a nice day y'all!

[ Cute Vitamin Ballpen ]

I bought some vitamin ballpens on Ebay a couple of weeks ago.
And my package just arrived!

When I saw these on ebay I thought they were the cutest pens ever (lol everything is cute to me). I really liked the facial expressions and the bright colors ^^ They were also really cheap! I actually won the bidding lol and the shipping was FREE. I only paid €1,22 for six pens.

Nobody would think those vitamin capsules are ballpens. I also tried them out and they write really nice. They're much more comfortable to write with than I expected. They will also make great birthday gifts!

[ Fooodies: Carrot Cake - AH ]

Hello! How have you been?
Ya know, I shouldn't be writing this post right now because I studied till 3 AM for my exam
and I only slept for 3 hours. I'm super tired actually, but my blog gives me strenght lol

I'm super excited about this fooodie! I think I found my new true love <3
Last week my good friend visited me and we went to the supermarket (Albert Heijn).
She told me she was addicted to something and she really wanted me to taste it.

Can you guys guess it? (doh it's in your title)
My friend is super addicted to CARROT CAKE! She told me she almost eats it 3 times a week. "Dayum dat sheeets must be good" was my first thought =p

I've heard about carrot cake before and I've seen a lot of pictures and recipe videos.
Carrot cake is all over the internet!
But to be honest, it never appealed to me for some reason. Maybe because it's not that popular in the Netherlands? I've never seen it in any bakery before, only at Starbucks maybe. I always found it a weird combination.. Carrots and cake? They're both sweet, but nehh..

OK. I tried it. It was an instantaneous FOOD... wait for it .. GASM!
(damn I hate that word but I can't think of a better one at the moment)

The SMELL, dayum, (poet-mode!)
Hints of nutmeg and cinnamon as if we're baking cookies during fall...

Carrot cake, look what you're doing to me lol. Don't make me start writing poems about the taste!

The smell was heavenly, but the taste was even better!
The cake was super moist, the sweetness was perfect, the spices weren't overpowering, with every bite you could feel different textures in your mouth: moist cake, crunchy walnut, sticky glace and more crunchy walnut! I'm always scared when I see glace on food, but this combination was PERFECTION. The glace wasn't too sweet at all.

Like I said before, this cake is perfection. The only thing I would alter is.. MORE CRUNCHY NUTS ON THE TOP. And the best thing is: We only paid €2.17 for 3 pieces of carrot cake!

I hope you guys will try it out! it's so goood

[ Dayre ]

Hi everybody!

My best friend told me about this app, Dayre. It's new micro blogging app for smartphones! Normally I wouldn't be interested lol, but since I started this blog on Blogspot I thought I should try it out and give it a chance ^^

Dayre is like an online diary with lots of extra stuff! You can post pictures, videos, edit your photos with filters, insert cute stickers and mini blog posts (500 words per post). It's also possible to share your location (dis is for all dem stalkers out there lol).

Homescreen
Stickers

I think this app is really easy to use, because you can update your post right away. You only have to upload a photo, video or sticker and write random stuff and Dayre will do the magic. You will have a complete "blogpost" at the end of the day before you even realise it.

This app compiles all your blogposts of that day in a chronological story.

I'm still going to use Blogspot for special events/moments. And of course to share awesome sheets with you guys! Dayre will be a place for daily, actual, random, (boring), but personal updates. Don't even know if I will be using it in the future.

Here's the URL to my Dayre account for the people who want to read my daily stuff: http://dayre.me/kawaima

[ Fooodies: Black Pepper Potatoes; KFC ]

Hey y'all!

Here's my first fooodies review (HOORAY) and our guest for today is: Black Pepper Potatoes
I went to KFC yesterday. It's been a loooooong time since I ate there.
I missed my hot wings qq

So I ordered a Hot Wings menu (like always) and Mantik chose the Zinger Burger menu and suddenly I saw a man eating the black pepper potatoes. The first thing I thought was: DAYUM, they lookin' fine!

The potatoes looked like flat ribbed fries sprinkled with black pepper and other seasonings.

The results: They were delicious! The fries were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The seasoning was spot on and you could definitely taste the black pepper. It wasn't spicy though! They remind me of the twister fries from Burger King. It was really good~~

The price was a bit on the expensive side. We paid €2.49 for one portion. And the portion was not as big as shown in the advertisment *why colonel? whyyy?!*
But I thought it was worth it. You will not be dissapointed! ^^

Here are some pictures I took myself!
